Ocean Basket is one of the most popular seafood restaurant chains in South Africa. The brand was founded in 1995 in Pretoria by brothers Peter Lazarides and George Lazarides. Their goal was to make seafood more affordable and accessible for everyone, at a time when seafood dining was often seen as expensive and exclusive.
The restaurant quickly became famous for its large seafood platters, quality meals, and warm Mediterranean-style hospitality. What started as a small local restaurant has now grown into a major international brand.
Today, Ocean Basket operates more than 215 restaurants across 19 countries, including the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Mauritius, Malta, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates.
