Burger King officially opened in South Africa in May 2013 with its first restaurant located on St Georges Mall in Cape Town. The brand first entered the country through a partnership with Grand Parade Investments. Later, the franchise rights were taken over by EXEO Capital and JAB Holding Company to help expand the business across the country.
Today, Burger King has more than 100 restaurants across South Africa’s major cities and provinces. The brand is famous for its “Have It Your Way” slogan and its flame-grilled beef burgers. Unlike many fast-food chains that use flat grills, Burger King cooks its patties over open flames to give them a smoky flavor.
